Boneless Pork Chop Recipes Question And Answer
Need help with proper measurements for a recipe?
I will be making Honey Vanilla Pork Chops tomorrow night for supper and according to the recipe it serves 6 to 8 people and I only want enough to serve 4 people. Math is not my thing and I struggle with it. I need help with reducing the measurements in the recipe so it will serve 4 people. Here are the ingredients:
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons water
6 to 8 boneless pork chops ( I know that I need to reduce this to 4 pork chops)
2 tablespoons oil
Answers
Just cut all the measurements in half.
2 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp paprika
pinch of dry mustard
dash of pepper
pinch of salt
1 Tbsp water
4 porkchops
1 Tbsp water
If the recipe calls for 8, and you want it reduced to 4, cut the amounts in half. The amounts are above. Hope this helps.
Don't worry about your math skills. This kind of cooking doesn't require any kind of exact measurements. Just cut down on all if you feel it's necessary. But actually I would cook the recipe as is and not change the amounts at all. Some people like 2 chops. So you may have a few left over... have them/it the next day. There's nothing worse when serving company than having nothing left over. How do you know if everyone has had enough? A good sign of full tummies is a serving or 2 left over... then you know people have had enough. A good rule of thumb whenever cooking for company. So my advice: Go with the recipe yo have and DO NOT reduce the ingredients.
Honestly, these are all fairly small amts, I would just use the same measurements, just with less meat. If you really want to be precise with the recipe, cut in half. But cooking isnt about precisness, its about what you like and what you think tastes good. I often manipulate recipes for serving size and taste. Like I will add less or more of ingredients I like/dislike. Or replace ingredients I dont like with ingredients I do. Just experiment.
I usually find a new recipe once or twice a month to experiment with and just tell everyone that if they dont like we can go out. With exception of a snafu here and there, they usually like it. But, I know what I like and what the ppl I cook for like, so its not too hard.
